LaFlamme graduated from the University of Ottawa. She received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario in 2006.
Her previously was co-host on Canada AM between 2001-2003, parliamentary correspondent for CTV News between 2000 and 2001, CTV News Channel evening anchor between 1998-2000, consumer reporter for CTV News 1997-1998, weekend anchor and reporter for CTV News Channel, 1997-1998 and reporter and news anchor for CKCO in Kitchener, Ontario between 1991-1997 and a radio news reporter for CFCA between 1989-1991.
